Thanks for all your help with the IWD project; I will update you when the e-book is ready for distribution!
My next project is to help the Syrian refugees. I want you all to consider the million plus Syrian refugees; I want you to also consider the 500,000 children which make up that statistic.
Whatever your political leanings, as human beings we should feel compelled to help others.
Yes, the big day I have been writing about for the past week has finally arrived!
I want to thank you all so very much for supporting my Women in Writing project. Thank you for all your submissions; I was overwhelmed by the response. I am so glad that so many of you want to see a change in the way women are treated in the world!
I've been extremely busy with some of the campaigns I am involved with at the moment, but I am dedicating the rest of my day to collecting your pieces of writing for the International Women's Day e-book.
I have noticed every single one of you who has tried to contact me with a submission, and I will contact you over the next few hours.
Please support International Women’s Day on March 8th by writing a piece of poetry, prose or an article about women’s issues which you think are relevant or under-reported. Submissions will be collated and published online, and will also be made into an e-book memorializing the event.
Please ‘like’ the new P.E.A.C.E. Facebook page where updates will be posted, and let’s make this a success.
I’m sure that you are all going to grow very tired of me! You probably wish that I had not returned…
I hope that is not the case. Anyway, as I have stated in other posts, we really want this project to be successful. We define success in terms of how many people get involved, and how beneficial the project has been in terms of outreach, education and change. I have adopted the “motto”: a changed mind is a changed life. I believe that real change starts with the individual; when we alter our thinking and behavior, the people around you are more likely to fundamentally change too. It is about empowering the individual, change and uniting with others.
If there are any of you who are most definitely looking to contribute to the event, I would urge you to join the Facebook event page, and the P.E.A.C.E. Facebook page. We will be updating there regularly with details about how to contribute. You are free to invite others to the event.
I am looking to create an e-book memorializing the event, as long as the everyone consents to their work being published. This will be created for free distribution.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am very excited to start reading your submissions; I have already read some, and I am very pleased!
I have included some videos in this post to help inspire you with your writing:
I have been thinking a lot about how best to showcase the submissions we receive, and I am very tempted by the idea of creating an e-book anthology of our work in order to memorialize the event. What do you think? This can then be distributed to various places via certain contacts that I have, and you can keep it as a memento.
Thank you so much for the overwhelming support from some of you for my International Women’s Day project. I have registered it as an event with the International Women’s Day organization under ‘Women in Writing’. You can find the event page here. I say “writing”, but I am more than happy to receive contributions in the form of videos, pictures or other media.
I want to update you on P.E.A.C.E. (People Everywhere for Activism, Change and Equality), my new (developing) site on WordPress for international affairs, human rights and global development. I have this very moment just set-up a Facebook page for the cause, which you can find here. I would like to openly invite you all to ‘like’ it and to contribute. If you would like to be listed as Admin or even just contribute articles etc., you are more than welcome. The P.E.A.C.E site will be actively promoting IWD and the Women in Writing project.
I want this to be an inclusive venture, and I really want the IWD project to be successful, so I ask that you spread the word!
I am still configuring the finer details of the project, i.e. publicity, but today I have made a lot of progress, and with your help it will go further!
